Neil Johnson is set to direct sci-fi Evolution War, which will star Tracey Birdsall

Southampton-born sci-fi helmer Neil Johnson, whose 1997 feature debut Demons In My Head is said to be the first ever digital film, has signed up to direct Evolution War, described as “a mix of The Terminator and Pacific Rim.”

Evolution War will star Tracey Birdsall, who also appears in Johnson’s Dawn of Destruction (2014), Rogue Warrior: Robot Fighter (2017) and his forthcoming At the Edge of Time and Time War.

Birdsall will play Angel-D, “a hero of the great machine war who returns to Earth to discover a terrible plague has wiped out humanity”, and is “forced to build an army of robots to battle an army of mysterious creatures that are taking over the surface of the Earth.”

Other cast will include Marilyn Ghiglioti, Brooke Lewis and Tony Gibbons. The release date is expected to be late Summer.
